A type R on 1500 watts???? LOL, I dont think so. That is WAY too much for an R......now you see why it failed. Mechanically/thermally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
A typeRs cont. power handling is 500w.........1500w peak.........so sending it 3x its rated output is NOT a good idea at all.
You're right, it wouldn't be wise for someone like yourself to do that. But for people that know what they're doing, 1500w to a Type-R is nothing.

have you used one? apparently not. you have no clue what your talking about. its all in the gains. a friend blew a 15'' R off 2600 an hour after it was installed. while i bassraced the same sub with 8k rms

8k RMS?

LMAO!

No.

I've had 10", 12" and 15" R's, and I will tell you straight up that you are full of shit. Now as we all know, I'm a supporter of type-rs as slammin budget subs. But 8kw? Give me a break.

For daily, 800-900 TOPS for a 10" and 12" R, 1500ish for a 15". For burps, add about 1000 to those numbers.

correct me if i'm wrong but wtf does giving it 1500 rms and knowing what you are doing and giving it 1500 and not know what you are doing ,what's the difference?

people that know what they are doing won't actually allow the sub to see 1500 watts. Like justin already said, there is a difference between putting a 2k amp on a sub and actually giving it 2k.

This isnt entirely true. You can feed a sub X amount of power if it is a clean, unclipped signal. That is what everybody is trying to say. Giving a sub 2000w of clean unclipped signal, and 2000w of a clipped signal are 2 totally different things. The clipped signal is gonna heat up and smoke a sub real quick.

a true 8k???

What kind of amps and electrical do you have??

2k with the gained turned down to 1k is not 2k....
your a funny guy...

2k with gain turned up to 2k still isnt 2k in real life. if the signal is clean you can send it 2k daily considering with impedance rise it still wont see that ammount of power on a regular basis.

the point is you can run a 2kw rms amp on the type r with no problem unless you got a way to keep your load @ a constant never changing level that send a true 2kw to the sub at all times.

you really think your 1kw amp is sending 1000 watts to your sub at all times. youll be lucky to see 600w for more than a few seconds.

When you say know what your doing, you mean people who have an electrical upgrade, cause thats all im really getting out of it is that you need clean power. So lets see here everyone who has an electrical upgrade knows what there doing. My comp car can do 4000rms on each 15" idspl which are rated for 1000rms so wrms. Does that mean I know what im doing, NO! I still dont know shit about this stuff I just bought a bunch of batts and an Ohio 300a alt. You dont have to be a pro to do that stuff just have to have money to spend.

Next time you rate people on how good they know what they are doing dont let it be on how much power they can put to a sub. Try like how well they can build a box or instal.
