xenon x600.1 questions

Ok, so I just bought one of these, and i searched and read alot on here about this amp. It doesn't come with the birthsheet, but I have read that every x600.1 puts out at least 800w, is that true?

My next question is, if I have a dual 2 ohm IDMAX, would there be any advantage to running at 1ohm, or 4ohms? does one have slightly more power, or run cooler?

no difference in ohm loads, does the same power no matter what.

Not completely true. The birthsheets I've seen on that amp rate it at 800w around 10% THD (well into clipping). 1% THD is what most manufacturers use for their benchmark, so it just looks really under rated by their exaggerated testing standards.

I have never heard about the distortion levels, just that they produced much more power than they are rated. Anyone else have any more info?

1) just run the amp at 4ohm.

as for what it actually does, only way you'll know is by using a o-scope and DMM at the same time

Even though by design they should put out the same amount of wattage from 1-4 ohms, it actually goes up in wattage as the ohms go down. A reviewed bench test, as read here half way down> http://phoenixphorum.com/pg-scanned-literature-vt6162-25.html is the proof.

Now the benefit in wattage from 1 to 4 ohms wont be enough, IMO, to warrant running it at 1 ohm.

Also note: The first runs of the XENON amps came w/a generic birth sheet that sated something like 615 wrms, those were just generic copies. The later runs came w/real birth sheets, many in the neighborhood of 800+ wrms.

The reviewed amp might've been from the first run. IDK.

if you buy a 600 watt amp , why would you want it to put out 800+wrms?

It's subjective. From a technological point, yes. I like and prefer the Tantrm line over the XENON line, but the Tantrum was their middle class line at the time and the XENON was their top of the line so they're both in different categories.
