I was gonna have my box made at 3.5 cubic ft. But i c on here every1 is having it around like 2.25/ 2.50. Do bigger boxes have more spl? Or more sq? Wut would be the perfect box size for mostly spl and enough sq to sound ok. It is a 06 12" L7. Only have 1. I listen to rap

if you look at the manual for this sub there are three suggested ported enclosure sizes:

Compact -- 1.75 + port

Street Bass -- 2.5 + port

SPL/ Deep Bass -- 3.25 + port

the SPL will give you the deepest bass but it is more of a one note wonder....i would suggest the Street Bass box. I have herd them all and this is the best sounding box by far.

Ported Solo-Barics incorporate massive slot loaded ports with ultra low air velocity for ground pounding street bass that will make your hair stand on end (if you have any left)! These are the enclosures of choice for outrageous street bass and high performance SPL contests.

The following chart shows three recommended ported enclosures for each Solo-Baric driver.

Compact has increased bass efficiency over a sealed enclosure, yet can still fit in tighter applications. It is the smallest design that will work well for each woofer. Although it is the smallest ported enclosure the output from 30 to 80 HZ will be considerably higher than that of a sealed box. This smallest vented design is for places where you can only give up the room normally taken up by two L7s in the normal small sealed boxes. The two other ported designs have proportionately more output in this region.

Street Bass is a medium sized enclosure that will kick out bass that can be heard for blocks away. And it does go LOW!

Finally, SPL / Deep Bass is a large enclosure that has it all. It is high efficiency and will deliver the output needed to win SPL contests, yet low frequencies go all the way down to the basement - with power that will shake the foundations! We’re talking truly awesome.

If space is not at a premium and you want to get the most from your Solo-Baric® L7, try one of these designs. You won’t be disappointed. Note: You must add the port volume to the volume of the box! See the cut sheets.
