my friend has a 2 ohm stable amp but has a in store best buy warrenty on it.he has a rockford fostgate amp.. i havnt yet got my amp for my xxx yet. question is will it harm my sub if i iwre his amp to 1 ohm. Will it harm his amp..? is it evn possible? Or shoud il jus wire it to 4 ohms? cuz i really wanna here mu sub today.

ha i think im going to try it.. or at least at 4 ohms first. thing is he can exchange his amp as many times at best buy no questions ask. thats why i was thinking about doin it 1 ohm

It's harder to fry an amp than you would think, and if you get a guy at best buy that knows anything, he'll know a rockford amp isn't going to blow on a 4 ohm load, even if you drive it way to hard.

Plus, even if you do get a new one no questions, that's just not honest.

AND to add to other things, I don't think you'll have to worry with that amp too much, but you have to keep in mind that you clip amps when you run them below their stable impedences which means dirty signal running to a beautiful sub....not a good idea.

**** it.

turn the gains down, run it at 1, set the gains (real low) and bump away. if your sub can take the power and run at 1ohm (dual 2 coils?) and you arent clipping it - it should work for as long as the amp can be over powerered. if it breaks, switch the wiring to 4ohm mode, and bring it back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

just tell them it stopped working and youd like another pwease //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

shouldnt be too much of a problem now should it?

BUT

make sure you got a warranty if YOU set it up... sometimes shops\stores WILL NOT return the warranty if YOU set up your system. so ASK THEM FIRST AND GET IT IN WRITING!!!

Exactly what amp is it? Depending on the amp, it may run the 1 ohm load just fine, or it'll immediately go into protect. I ran my Kicker KX600.1 @ 1 ohm (only 2 ohm stable) daily for 3 months with no problems, till I was able to upgrade to a KX1200.1.
