I see. But when he quoted RC's challenge, he's just saying that a watt is a watt. Not that the Boss does rated. He's also sayin that he doesn't want to pay for the badge when he can get the same power for cheaper because it doesn't have the b0ner of the week label on it.

Theres plenty off cheapish amp's out nowaday's that put out good/rated power.

Are you stupid? As technology improves, things are made better using less and less money. Back years ago a 40 gb HDD was like $120, nowtoday you can get over a TB for less than $100. Same with car audio, if it was so cheap to make these high power amps back then as it was today, people would have been in the 160s and 170s years upon years ago..

thats just it back then there was no internet driving down the price and there was only a few companies buying from china and selling for 300x the amount it cost to build.come on do you think it cost them anywhere close to $1500 to build a 1000 watt amp?back then it was supply and demand.why is it some kicker flex can cost me $12ft from a local dealer but can be had for $3-$4ft on the net.do you think the guy selling it for $3ft is loosing money or making money? same with amps you can go to a dealer and see it for $500 then buy it new from the net for $200 yet again the guy on the net is making money.its all about how much they can charge for a product.like i said before konaki subs dirt cheap look just like DD i paid $240 shipped for 2 brand new 12's how much would DD cost you??? do you know why dd charge's so much more? because of milling they told me.lets talk more about DD and AQ the owner of AQ was related to DD in some way I dont remember but he started AQ and sold subs for half the cost of a DD sub and yet AQ still makes money.i worked at bestbuy for about a year I bought a pioneer deck from them at cost plus 10% with turned out to be $125 the msrp in the store was $349.now they are making some cash then you figure if best buy paid $115 for the deck,pioneer is selling them for $115 and i bet they have the deck marked up at least double what it cost to build and ship and store and pay employees.

Just cause an amp says it does 2000 watts does not mean it will actually do 2000 watts. Most cheap amps are way way way overrated and do a fraction of what they say. That's why quality equipment is so much more expensive. You are paying for the power plus the build quality itself.

so you're saying a 5000w boss amp puts out more power than SAZ4500D? So if I started a company and put together a cheap *** amp and stuck a 5000w sticker on it, does that mean it does 5000w?

Do your research before you buy an amp.

I don't give a **** what any amp is listed at.....Be that Sundown or Boss. If a boss amp is rated at 5k puts out 500w of true unclipped power, I'll put it up against any other 500w true power amp as far as sq is concerned (not durability) if they're both unfiltered. (can always run active xovers to run a cheap amp and have it sound great).

Who gives a **** about a rating. I research and buy based on bench tests and knowing what an amp actually puts out.

Sometimes I feel like I'm dealing with toddlers on here.

No, you are putting words into his mouth. I think everyone here knows that some companies inflate their ratings and that in the case of ratings a boss watt does not equal a Sundown watt. In his case if he can spend $200 on an amp that puts out a true 1000wrms He would rather pay that than $400 for another amp that puts out the same amount of true power.

I said power.....not ratings. Power is power. It's measured in watts, and typically, I like to see bench measurements.

All run on my active outboard processor with amps set to flat. I'll bet anyone my checking account they couldn't pass the "Pepsi challenge" between the LP, Zap or that BS amp.

I think you're confused here man. You said you heard a difference in amps when using an active cover.

If you really think you can hear a difference, go get that $10k.
