So this guy is selling a brand new never used 15" Stroker for only $225, Do you think it's a good deal?

I've never heard one in person before and I was wondering if someone can give me some input on what they think about it.

I know it can get loud, but can it have some SQ if put in the right enclosure and tuned properly?

Post your thoughts, thanks!

What about the price, does $225 sound good?

I just called the guy thats selling this sub, it turns out he used to work for Cervin Vega and has a bunch of audio equipment, t-shirts, banners, crossovers, tweeters etc. He is moving and just wants to sell all of this "junk" he calls it lol.

I asked him what kind of amps he has, and he said he doesn't have any Cervin Vega amps, but he does have a few barely used MMATS DHC 2200.1's I looked them up and they look really beefy! He didn't tell me a price, but if it's good I will probably pick them up and resell them cheap to make some fast cash.

i just sold my old stroker 18 for 225 shipped , so ya thats a good deal for a n.o.s. one..... those were the sub to have 10+ yrs ago loudest id heard at the time they came out, and i believe they were made to be loud sq'ish subs from what i remember none i heard had any problem playin music at full volume....

As stated previously in the thread, their original design intent was for movie theaters. You can call that "loud sq'ish" if you want. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I never thought they sounded all that good for music. But some people claim they can sound pretty good in the right setup. Eh, they were primarily famous for SPL, and they are out classed by even average SPL subs these days. Buy it if you want the nostalgia of running such a sub. I always thought they are one of the best looking subs from the front. *shrug*

A friend in high school had an 18" Stroket on a Memphis Mojo 2500d. Got very loud. Definitely not a bad sub by any means. I'd pick one up if I had the chance just for the fun of it.

there used to be a guy here in south houston with a white toyota tacoma and it had a snug top on it with probably a 5cu ft box (?) that ended up setting right behind the seats......he had 2 18's running off 2 of the good old school soundstream amps........not sure if you could even say "sound quality" with his setup BUT that ***** was ungodly loud!!!! he had some metal flatbar going around his windshield and riveted into the frame rails and window because he said it popped out before? didn't see that but i heard that **** thing on a couple of occasions.......a little piece of the earth would move, usually right around where his truck was parked.
