Okay, so I have a buddy who want's to add a sub to his explorer. Wan't it to be loud, but still have a decent ammount of sq. He has about $600 for everything so this is what I was thinking:

Amp (Hifonics BXi1208D - $250):

Sub (Fi Q15 - $270):

Wiring Kit (KOL-AK4 - $50):

What do you guys think of that set-up right there. Can it be beaten for the money or is it pretty good? Also, I was going to wire the amp to 1 ohm for 1200 watts leading me to 2 questions:

1. I need the dual 1 ohm coils correct? Or do I need 2 ohm or does it matter?

2. Sub is rated at 1000wrms, so will 1200 be too much, should I go with the BP option for $40 or is it not needed... opinions?

Okay, and the last thing I need help with is what's a decent LoC that isn't really expensive. Lastly, how would you guys do the box, subs up port up? What would you tune it to and how many cu. ft.

What about a LoC because he doesn't wanna get rid of his 6 disc changer.

And also if he is getting the Q (rated at 1000w rms) and the HiFonics (rated at 1200w rms, but i've heard it's really less than that) do you think the bp option would be worth the $40 or can he just run the q at 1200w rms, or should he just set the gains to 1000w because there really won't be a difference anyways.

1000w sub and a stock front stage... I'm glad I'll never get to hear that...
Well some people aren't made of money so he just wants to add some bass via subs. In his next car he will do a full install but thanks for the input...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

lol....this will be more than some bass!

if he wants some bass go get him something smaller and cheaper and get him a front stage to go with it to total $600

You don't need to be made of money to have a well balanced sound system. The guy would be better off with a small cheap 4 ch, a set of coaxials and a more modest sub.

It's a bad plan, IMO... but it's his money.
