Would Type R's Be An Upgrade

I know there is a lot of talk about type r's, meaning they have their own thread on this forum. I know a lot of ppl trash talk kickers. I'm currently running two 12'' kicker cvr's off a PG RSD 1200.1 at 4 ohms, they seem pretty over powered. This was jus a quick cheap something to throw in my truck. After reading nothing but good reviews and flaming on kicker off this site, I must say my old kenwood excelon 12's out performed these kickers. I know the type r's would be a cheap upgrade if any but I'm not a man of many moneys! Thanks in advance.

^^ agreed, type r's sound like butt to me. they get loud, but thats where the buck stops.

I was iffy about Hifonics amps so that made me iffy about their subs. I had thought about the RSDCs. It's a tough choice when you havent heard much of anything.

I ran a couple 12" R's for years...they took whatever I could throw at em (600-700w each) and other than getting stanky they loved it. They get pretty loud for cheap, definitely not the best SQ but I wouldn't say they sound like ***.

Hm, if you don't have much to spend, why not do one 15"? Less subs = less money

I jus have two sealed boxes at 1.34 cubes before displacement. I jus wanted some boom to my music. Doubt I will ever have the spare cash to really get into car audio like I would like. Have too many other sorta expensive hobbies I guess. I jus like bass an like it to sound good with all kinds of music I guess is why I went with sealed boxes so I wouldnt have to worry about tuning and different boxes when I got different subs
