What SUBS for soundstream Reference 405?

Looking for advice on what sub or subs to buy for my Wrangler?

* Amp is Soundstream Reference 405

* Sub Channel is 1x200 watts rms @ 2 ohms, 1x240 watts rms @ 1 ohm

* Sealed Enclosure

* R&B favorite type of music

* Budget around $500

* Thinking 10" or 12"

* Have used Pioneer and Kicker in the past

* Looking for SQ more than SPL

so the amp is 200 rms at 2 ohm and doesnt go down to 1 ohm? and your budget on a sub is 300? im just making sure.

It does go down to 1 ohm but only increases to 240 watts @ 1 ohm.

that really isnt enough power for a sub in a noisey wrangler you need 500rms atleast....

15 years ago when that amp was new, plenty of people used them to power their sub(s), and had no trouble overpowering the noise from convertibles like a Jeep. Just dont go out and buy some new sub that expects to be crammed into a tiny box and fed 2500 watts.

thats because times have changed and 15yrs ago a good sub was like a entry level of today. if ur gonna run that little of power just grab any entry level sub for that matter. today people expect more that way i said 200rms isnt going to be enough...

these are what i was talking about or a idq would be nice too. stay away from the kicker enclsure need to be too big...
