Would this be good sound deadener?

have you used peel and seel before?
I've used it as temporary flashing around some windows I was installing in my house, but I wouldn't put it in a car. I have tested its ability to damp vibrations and block sound and it is very poor at both. Throw in reliability problems that have nothing to do with installation technique and there is no reasonable reason to try to use it as sound deadener. When you consider that you can get a better result using less than 1/6 as much of a decent butyl/foil product, there isn't even a cost reason to try it in a car.

Well I tested it in a car, I already had the setup in my car, rattled/vibrated panels and roof like crazy. Put 2 layers of Peel N Seal on the doors, 1 on the floor, 2-3 on the roof, and 1 on the hatch.

MUCH LESS road noise, and all panels except the hatch barely move at all, and dont make any noise at all.

Worked for me, and has for 2 years. But its your call, and your money

Testing it in a car would require using P&S and a different product. I was pretty clear that it might be better than nothing and that's exactly what your test shows. How often have you seen someone post that they had previously used P&S but used (insert name of butyl/foil damper) in their current install and would never go back? Dozens, hundreds? How many times have you heard the reverse? I don't think I ever have.

If your P&S lasts for 3 or 4 years, you can be confident that it probably won't fail in your case. That doesn't say anything about the many people who have had problems. If it doesn't survive that long you'll be looking for ways to get molten asphalt out of your upholstery. Since it actually costs more to use P&S, folks should definitely be thinking about their money.
