would I need bracing??

2 12" Fi BL running on a AQ 2200

another question i have is with the size range that Fi and most sub mfg. recommend. it says 1.8-2.5 cu ft

if the smallest size is tuned to 30hz and so is the largest size, what are the differences going to be between the different sizes?

For every size BL they recommend a 30hz tuning for the best balance of SQ and SPL.

However, enclosure volume for each size woofer is going to differ, as well as port length to obtain proper tuning.

Oh, and btw, brace your box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You are going to be running a bit of power, so you will be better off with a solidly braced enclosure.

last time i checked, woofers WERE rated in watts, i dont know who lied to this guy...and with those speakers i would definitely recommend bracing...less flex inside the box equals more output from the box. construction is everything so take your time and do it right.

i was merely giving an example on the tuning freq. i was wondering what is the difference between a box 1.8 cu ft tuned to 30hz and one at 2.5 cu ft tuned to 30 hz running the same power??

sound quality difference?? power handling difference??

Tell me if I'm wrong but a larger enclosure tends to have more output but lose sound quality.

correct...it will play deeper and louder with a larger box but less efficient....not going to be super dramatic in change as far as efficiency so not to worry...
it depends on how much bigger the box is. its not always gonna be louder in a bigger box.

Larger box usually equals more efficiency //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif that's how it is able to get deeper and lower. It can reduce the mechanical limitations though if you go overboard with it.

by less efficient, i was referring to being able to hit all frequencies accurately....but still correct me if im wrong...always open to suggestions and corrections
With ported boxes, the larger they are, the more drastic the peak around tuning. So that would be correct. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

alright, well i changed direction on this build, i'm going with 1 12" BTL. the room that i had in the trunk wasn't enough to put 2 12"s in and have them be efficient enough in the box size... plus i couldn't afford 2 of them! haha

if the range for one btl is 1.8-2.5 what size should i go with? anyone have any experience with the btl's?

thanks for all the replies.
