Wow, nice edit. You should /yourself now.
yea i guess that was my bad. i havent heard alot of decent stereos, and the ones i have were always sealed. the only ported boxes ive ever really heard were prefabs from kicker made for specific drivers so i thought it ported and tuned properly.Nothing wrong with going sealed, not all ported boxes are one tone wonders either.

Noobx.
Prefabs are likely to have little port area and probably tuned high, hence your idea of ported boxes being boomy.yea i guess that was my bad. i havent heard alot of decent stereos, and the ones i have were always sealed. the only ported boxes ive ever really heard were prefabs from kicker made for specific drivers so i thought it ported and tuned properly.
yea def. i guess i can stick with my already sealed eclipses, and spend some time building a couple boxes with different tuning. see what pros and cons i can come up with.Prefabs are likely to have little port area and probably tuned high, hence your idea of ported boxes being boomy.
I do likes myself a sealed box though, never hurts to try a few boxes and see what you like...
Thats the best thing to do, what sounds good to one person may sound like shit to another. Gotta figure out what sounds good to you.yea def. i guess i can stick with my already sealed eclipses, and spend some time building a couple boxes with different tuning. see what pros and cons i can come up with.
Right. One should correct someone else only when they are correct themselves.yes. i fixed basically after realizing i had spelled it wrong. stop acting like a little girl.
ok..... Well one thing i will say is typically ported boxes don't have the same tonal range as sealed. But depends on vehicle . And honestly a lot of subs now days have pretty good tonal range in ported boxes. NOW even subs that don't have the best tonal range typically are a LONG way off from a one hit wonder...... Really you use that phrase incorrectly... One hit wonder is typically known as I would est. a 1 to 3hz range. are you really telling me even 1 percent of woofers in a normal ported box let alone most are one hit wonders? come on! Honestly a correctly tuned ported box can have a very good range and depending on subwoofer I have seen almost completely flat from 30 to 70hz. I just think unfortunately you have been extremely misinformedi notice ported boxes basically **** for tonality. pretty much one hit wonders, i want to hear every bass note in detail. still hit hard, but i dont want it to flutter out or sound like a fart box. im assuming going sealed would solve this problem. ive only had one sealed enclosure before, my two eclipse SW8102's, which ill most likely be using again with my new amp. both of them are in .5cuft each, and will be getting 500w a peice. so itll be decently loud. i never had it hooked up in my car, but i heard them in someones lexus before i bought them and they got loud, but i never paid attention to the bass detail.
