worry about safe install

That's terrible. Even the ground.....when the hatch/gate closes, it doesn't interfere with it? Because it looks like it does/would.
What about offering a small fee to re-install the things that are needed?
ive offered to correct it without fee just because i like doing that kind of stuff and making sure its done right just to be of help to people. Hell, i fix android phones in both software and hardware often times for free if people cant afford to slide me a $20 or something because i like being a good guy, but he flat refused.

you know whats the funniest part? The step-son said that the kid who owns the car has a cousin who works on cars on a racing team and he said that the "mechanic" guy didnt see a problem with it. My eyeballs almost popped out at the audacity of such a claim! Either the "mechanic" guy is a complete idiot, or the story of the "mechanic" looking at it and seeing nothing out of the ordinary is a lie. But, all worries can be put to rest as the solution to this issue in this brilliant 15 year olds mind is to procure a fire extinguisher. Wont recognize a wiring issue as a fire hazard and correct it, but he'll get himself a fire extinguisher for the car in question. Face.......palm.........

This is just some kid's first crappy little install. I've seen worse on craigslist

Your kid isn't in serious danger, so I don't see the point in getting so worked up about it

the only serious danger would be if the pinched power wire gets exposed and causes the plastic to catch fire, which is possible. not likely, but still really stupid to be so bull headed about not letting someone fix it for you for free. if something does get toasty enough to cause smoke, it could then easily cause flame and if youre going down the highway at 65 with the windows down, thatd provide a fair amount of fuel to fan the fire.

The main reason for this post was to confirm or deny the good-idea/bad-idea of pinching a power wire thru a door jam. General consensus is the latter
