Worried about my electrical system

Story of My Life...
Ok, so I have the two amps in my sig running my system, they both equal to 100 amps of current draw, my stock alternator is like 75-80 amps.

Car is a Honda Civic, and the battery is TINY (only around 525 CCA). I'm going to reloacte my battery to the trunk with a Red Top.

Here's the problem, I may get a Sundown 1000, and that has a fuse rating of 100 amps. That would equal 140 amps current draw on a 75 amp alt.

Right now, I get the slightest fain of a dim on my lights, but my voltage hardly ever drops below 13.3-.4 at idle at full tilt, and it sits and hums at about 14.1-.4 at cruise (2000+ rpm)

Will I be okay running 140 amps of current on a 75A alt with a single Red Top, or will eventually kill my alt?

it won't kill the alt. but you at least want 2 batteries and not always want to play at full tilt.

your going to get dimming regardless if/after you add a saz-1000d.

on a side note i ran a 1500d + a profile ap1040 on stock alt, stock engine battery, redtop in trunk for well over a year and my stock alt is still in working condition. voltage did drop down into the low 12's but usualy only stayed at 12 due to my civics ecu.

either way. you'll be fine, don't full tilt it all the time. better off getting a kinetik over the red top. use a trickle charger every other week or so and your electrical shouldn't have any issues.

I would replace the underhood battery and either

A) get a H/O alt

or

B) Get a 2nd battery for the rear.

If you can do both, that would be even better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A bigger alt is $650. No local shops will touch it, or are able to order a H.O. alt for my car.

EA quoted me at $650, and Iraggi didn't even get back to me. There was a member here selling an H.O. alt for my car, pretty cheap too. ****, i knew I should of got it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

FBI, I was told by an unreliable source that my alt WILL NOT support two batteries, what do you think about that?

mine did. even on more amperage draw.

shit man, initially when i first got my car i was running a soundstream pca2000D on stock battery + stock alt. that's it. i got dimming like a mother and shitty voltage drops, but my alts still working.

i then upgraded and added the big 3, and a red top(can't remember size but second to largest one) for about a year and a half before i switched the red to a kinetik. still same alt working fine.

i have an HO alt in now though but that's cause i'm running pretty much double the power than i was before

one thing i say about getting a kinetik is they say that kinetiks DON'T add an extra load onto your electrical system and won't put any strain onto your alt.

(taken from Kinetikaudio.com FAQ

"I heard that adding more batteries to my car will lower the voltage and is harder on my alternator, is this true? .

Adding multiple Kinetik Power Cells to a vehicle will not add extra load on your alternator or lower you voltage in your car like adding ‘wet cell’ batteries will. Due to the low ESR and high voltage of Kinetik Power Cells, your voltage will actually increase. Kinetik Power Cells also charge more efficiently and quickly than a standard ‘wet cell’ battery reducing the stress on your alternator."

this is why i also say that if you put a trickle charger onto your battery once every other week it'll help maintain your batteries charge and will put even less strain onto your alt.

Check ebay they have some that look decent but I have no clue if they actually do what the sellers are rating them at. Or if they are any good for that matter, you would probably have to do a bit more research on them
