woofer installed on inner port wall?

advantage=it would be hard to steal the sub without taking the boxdisadvantage=there would be a sub in your port
thanks for the wonderful comments captain obvious. haha, but nah man, just losing the width of the port would make it all messed up. just forget about it... but hey, i like the thinking, anything new is worth asking about

ok...there wouldn't be enough area around the sub to gain, but i see where your coming from

are you thinking of a horn type enclosure?

a horn enclosure would be cool. i mean all i was wanting to do was be different lol. how exactly would you tune a horn enclosure? i never quite grasped that. ported i get but horn not so much

i have never even tried to tuen one, much less build one, deathbybass can design one, i've seen one he's built
i might ask 80 if he has any experince. Deathbybass seems like a decent builder but could give a rats *** if it has a few flaws. thas like the opposite of how i think

what are the Pros and Cons of a horn enclosure?
Pros;

Increased efficiency over a given frequency band, including reduced cone movement and increased power handling. Consistant group delay makes it easier to time align. (depending on design).

Cons; Very large enclosure size for true bass horns, complex to design and make, suitability for car audio use is doubtfull at best.

Horns work best in a far field environment, much of their efficiency comes from their high directionality*, this advantage is lost in the small space of a vehicle where near field effects** are dominant over much of the bass frequency range.

*imagine a sub radiating bass in all directions, now take all that spread out bass energy and focus it into a narrow cone, that essentially, is what a horn does.

**The cabin space of the car restricts the expansion of the bass wave and yeilds increased efficiency and powerhandling like with a horn, all be it with a more erratic response.
