Wiring Speaker from the head unit?

the driver side front speaker was not working. So I bought a set of 6.5 component speakers. I started with the nonworking side and couldnt get any sound. I checked the speaker on the other side and it works. So the question is how do wire from the head to the left front speaker?

Or could the head unit gave out on one channel?

sounds as if a channel is blown out. 3 options.....go without that speaker, get a new unit (unless its an expensive one of course then get it repaired) or run an amp for your new components.

although, if youre only running two speakers, you could of course, use the other left and right off the head unit that does work, but im sure thats a given.
