Wiring question

I've looked through the tutorials but not really seen what I'm looking for. I have a 03 Toyota 4runner, and it is equipped with a factory JBL system. The stock sub is blown, and I'm going to be replacing it with another 8" sub (aftermarket). I'm hoping I can use the JBL amp to power the new sub as a temporary solution until I can get a separate amp. The current JBL sub is a 2 ohm DVC. Most of the replacement subs I'm looking at are SVC 4 or 8 ohm. My assumption is that the JBL is wired into the amp at 4 ohms. In theory, I'd be able to run the 4 ohm SVC at the same power (right now it's 45 watts RMS per coil). Is there a way I can wire in the SVC 4 ohm with the factory amp and still get the 90 watts RMS? I'm assuming there are two separate leads coming from the amp, I'm new to this and wasn't sure if both could be hooked in. Thanks for any advice!

It kind of depends. Now, I know nothing about your specific vehicle but I'm just assuming, either that stock amp is a mono channel (likely) or it's a 2 channel (less likely). Are you absolutely positive the sub is wired to a 4 ohm load? It could be wired to a 1 ohm load (less likely) in which case a 4 ohm sub would result in you getting a lot less than 90w. But we'll just assume it's wired to a 4 ohm load. If it's a mono channel amp, you'll have no problem wiring in a SVC4 sub. But if it's a 2 channel, with one channel going to each VC, then you may run into problems. You could bridge it, but that's providing that the amp is bridgable.

If I were to assume, I'd say it's a single channel amp, so you should be able to just drop in a SV4 sub. Hope that helped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I knew I was leaving something out. The JBL system is a 10 speaker system, and the specs I've read say the amp is 8-channels. I'm not positive how the sub is wired in, or at what load. All I know is the OEM JBL sub is 2 ohm DVC.
