Wiring Issue?? Help!

So to keep things short. I switched vehicles and pulled the year old sub and amp from my truck to the car. Both same exact set up other then different head unit.

So…
- i ran my power from battery to the amp/ my ground
- ran my remote wire to the copper wire on my rear speaker( it was the easiest and in the trunk
- ran the rca from head unit to amp
- last I of course run my positive and negative from amp to sub

My problem is, in the truck, as I know in that type of environment the sub is going seem a lot louder being so close and open then having a trunk system. But the sub is no where near as good as it was in the truck. I realize again it’s not going to be the same sounding but something is wrong for sure and I just am really stumped on what to do. It worked great in the truck and I went from 1 car to the other so I don’t see them being blown or worn out being so new.

I’m sure I forgot some useful info to have but if there are any questions or comments to maybe trouble shoot/double check or that I missed completely, please lmk. I’m new to the forum as well so forgive me if I’m in the wrong place.!

Probably should add that I have 1 10” DS18 sub and a 1 channel black diamond amp

Which way is the sub facing in the trunk. Do you listen to it with the rear seats down? Is the radio aftermarket since it has RCAs?

Facing up. And I have it where the middle counsel is down to let some air in. And yes aftermarket

Try facing them back. Bouncing that bass off the rear should give a bit of a boost. I have no idea how much bass can pass through the ski port so you will need to experiment with sub placement.
If radio was OEM then wiring the LOC might have been an issue but it is aftermarket, so no issue there. EQ settings is what you will need to play with as well but like stated, truck and car are very different. Maybe time to upgrade to a 12 or switch to a 4th order box with the port in the ski port.

I totally agree. I don’t know I just think somethig is wrong. I barely get anything at all

If it is that bad then maybe something is off. Did the sub get pulled out and rewired? Is there only one set of wires going to the sub box? If all that checks out good, then wiring your phone direct to the sub amp is a good test. Use an RCA to 3.5mm cable and test a few songs.

Try opening the trunk to see if it gets louder. If it does, you are getting cancellation. Sound waves in the trunk bouncing around cancelling each other. If it does, play with facing the sub in different directions, to the rear, to one side of the trunk, even firing forward, until you find the direction that sounds best without cancelling.

In a trunk in most cases always face subs to rear, and secure subbox as close to the taillights as possible. No need to open a space between rear seats and trunk. If that doesn't work you have wiring or power issues.
