using a dmm i tested the voltage of my 4ga power wire coming from the battery going to my sub amp and it reads just over 12volts, but when i connect the remote wire to the amp, the voltage drops down to 5v on the power wire. Its not a problem with the remote wire because i tried it on the other 8ga power wire going to my interior speaker amp and the voltage is steady at just over 12v and does not drop even when that same remote wire is connected. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything you dont understand.

Sounds like a bad amp and a massive power draw

its not the amp because i switched it to the interior speaker amp and it had the same problem.

In the first post you say just the opposite.

the problem seems to be somewhere on the 4ga power wire side but dont know why the voltage would drop with the remote wire.
