wiring amp in 1/0 gauge

How to do it? I mean...usually every amp I see the connectors for power and ground arent big enough to fit a 1/0 gauge ring terminal....Seems its made to use the spade terminals obviously, and from what Ive found...1/0 gauge spade terminals dont exist...?

So when running an amp 1/0 gauge wiring, do you have to have a distro.block with 1/0 gauge in and 4 gauge out then basicly run a 4 gauge wire to the actual amp and a 1/0 from the block to battery? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Or is there something im missing?

I ran large wire like that to my 2100, it only took 4g. I got the reducer lugs for it, and ran that from my battery straight to my amp, had a couple fuses inline that called for large wire. Plus, the reducer lugs make the install look a lot cleaner because where the wire is tightened down with the allen set screw, there's a color matched, well, red or black, cap that covers the junction, looks nice.

there's always the option of shaving a few strands off the diameter of the 1/0 at the amp to make it fit. It seems counter productive, but since the resulting reduced diameter is for such a short length the effect on resistance is negligible.

Technically the $9 reducer does exactly the same thing.

do not shave off strands of wire to fit it, get reducers. when you shave off strands it creates more resistance which in turn creates more heat, and could possibly catch something on fire. it takes a while to get hot, but i have seen people do it and come out with burnt insulation on there wire. 1 or 2 here and there wont hurt, but shaving 1/0 down to 4 guage will increase resistance dramatically

How is a reducer different? It's just a $9 piece of metal that does the exact same thing.

If shaving 1/0 to 4 ga for 1/2" significantly increases the likelyhood of a fire then I guess fuses defy the laws of physics.

no, it wont.

n2audio takes the cake on this one...
