I've done that but what I'm wondering is will it cause a fire or would the amp just be lacking power. Just until wire is upgraded

Well 4 gauge is only rated at 800...

Now if you keep your music turned down it should be ok..

I wouldn't chance it..

my system is rated at 1100 watts, and im running 4 guage,nothings burnt yet,and its been 4 or 5 months.

and are you still getting a good enough current that drives your sub or subs consistantly? what kind of sub or subs do you have?

ya it Pounds,hard,i can crank it as far as the volume nob and gain remote goes,and then i still got half a bass boost knob on the amp.The sub is a JL Audio 12W7.

think I would be ok with a pair of 15" solo L5's and the kx1200.1 usig 4gauge?

750 and max 1500. I was told thAT the kx1200.1 would be the best amp to use for those subs by the guy that hooked up my system right now I have the bull lanzar 268 thats only strong enough to power one sub. in your opion what's the best amp out there or what do you think?

yours sould be fine,i mean most amps reccomend what guage to use in their manual,mine recommended 4,and it runs fine.and the best amp out there, im not really sure,i need to try ALOT mre before i can say,but the 2 i really want right now are the JL Audio 1000/1 and the JBL BPx2200.1.

I wouldn't chance it..

4 gauge carries a maximum of 150 Amps without risking wire failure. 150A x 12v = 1800 watts.

you'll be fine with 4 awg.
