Will This system work?

I'm planning on buying my first system in a couple of weeks, but don't know too much about how the whole thing works. What I'm going to get is this:

Alpine CDA-7897 head unit

JL Audio 500/1 or Rockford Fosgate 601S sub amp

2 Jl Audio 12W3v2-D2 subs

I'm leaving the stock speakers in for now, and might get better ones later. I'm shootin for 250- 300 rms each sub. what i need to know is if all these are worth the moneyand what having a sub preout on the head unit means.

i'm tryin to stay under $1G by buying everything from ebay

That will work just fine. The sub preout is just the RCA preouts on the back of your deck that allows you to connect an amp using RCA's. The deck should have them and the system should work fine.

Does having th 4 volt preout mean that I don't have to wire the amp to my battery?
