im still waiting to see what i am assuming //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
you're assuming, that what im assuming, is not part of the "myth", which i will now refer to as a riddle.

by saying that what i assumed is not part of the riddle, be default, it means your assuming the opposite of what i said... unless you're the original creater of the riddle and set the "do/don'ts" of it...

Well, here's the original question, as presented to this site.

On a day with absolutely calm wind, a plane is standing on a runway that can move (some sort of band conveyor). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyor moves in the opposite direction.

The conveyor has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyor to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction).

Can the airplane ever take off?"

Discuss.

This is the debate sweeping the internet, lately.
It'll fly.

It'll fly.
Thats pretty much how it is everywhere. The people that are changing the way they look at it are just copping out cuz they realized it would fly. So instead of saying oh, i realize now, they say "it could be interpreted a lot of ways."

I don't think it can fly. I assume that the plane can only take off with the proper forces on the wing top and bottom. When the plane is preparing to take of the fins on the wing adjust to catch the wind a certain way and propell at an angle straight ahead and into the air. How can they do that without any wind resistance?

WHat?

what?

i still dont see what im assuming...

the riddle clearly states that the plane is moving... so please, again tell me what im assuming? if you think that im assuming the plane will move, im not assuming that, i KNOW it will be moving. if it were a car, i would say otherwise (unless the car was propelled by a jet engine, or any engine that pushes/pulls the car by applying force in any way other than to the wheels).

saying that the plane will move is not an assumption. there is no where in the riddle/myth statement that says there is a force holding the airplane in one spot. newtons laws are not assumptions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
