Will someone please explain something to me?

Length vs. cross sectional surface area.

Look at the filament of a fuse -- even a big *** 250A fuse is a very small piece of metal that can pass massive current with minimal resistance - the cross sec. area is small, but it's so short it presents minimal resistance.

A 1/0 terminal is what, 5, maybe 10 times the size?

probably has something to do with how dense it is too. If u think about wire it's a buncha tiny pieces of copper/metal wound up together, it conducts fairly good. But if u just have a huge soild piece of metal it would conduct even better. But it would be kinda hard for people to run copper pipes thro their car and into the amps. Could be done, but be way too much trouble.

You'd be surprised on how little a piece of solid stock has to be to successfully carry the current of a large wire. As stated above, look how small of a piece of metal is required to carry 250 amp load (Fuse)
