Will I regret getting my system installed at Best Buy?

how hard is it to install hu,harness adaptor, power, grounds, fuses.i figure if ur going to get into it,learn as much as you can, cause you know ur going to want to upgrade.so save urself monies and have someone teach you

Yeah who knew. I just laugh that because someone doesnt want to risk ****ing their car up with no insurance backing them up, that BB or CC is a bad idea. Not everyone has the ****ing tools or skill to install.

Going to bb or cc is never a bad idea when you have no idea what your doing. There are plenty of people with music, but only a handful who can install correctly. Nothing is better than someone teaching you hands on other than reading endless articles online. But the 'skills' can be learned and the tools brought. It's just when people do installs and their sastified you don't hear much of it, but when it's done halfa*s then you hear about it.

I said he should call corporate because the manager was irate and irrational. Try to get anything done with that and it won't happen. If the installer and the manager would have just worked with the guy, I wouldn't have suggested it.

because best buy did it then its the worst thing on earth, and everyone is better installers and small shops never make mistakes
I don't remember reading where anyone was inferring that in this thread? I have read plenty of threads where small shops **** up.

I think the problem is that best buy is hit or miss with their installs, when it's a corporation with one big name on many stores people assume that it's the same with all of them, and so when someone finds a store with a bad install bay everyone hears about it

Congrats, you work on 10 cars in the past 18 that were YOURS. You **** it up, its your problem. You **** up someone elses car, its now THEIR problem. Also they arent all easy, tell me how to take apart the dash in a mercedes, a beemer, hell even some of these newer 07-08 cars are a ***** to work on.
Exactly.

Key is not being lazy and having a thirst for knowlege. Cause i have seen some bad things form some shops i had a guy come to me last month with 2 1000/1 V2's, 2 W7 13's and a 300/4. Car would shut of at loud volumes if played to long and at med volume when he made right turns. what u think was wrong?

Probably a loose contact near the battery if I had to guess. Id have to see the car.

There are some crazy arguments going on in this thread. Let me join with my crazy thoughts...

Airlines are expected to hire pilots that can fly planes. If your plane crashes, you have every right to complain.

Hospitals are expected to hire doctors that can diagnose and cure. If you die, you have every right to complain.(you know what i mean)

Install shops are expected to hire competent installers. If the jack up your system, you have every right to complain.

If you go to an professional installer you should expect a professional install.

very good guess. well fist issue i had was with a box. I learned that hard way what the wrong enclosure can do for subs lol, He had a prefab ported box by the way. Electrical was a total Joke. OK they gave him 1/0 wire (JL cause people all ways ******* the JL mule) told him he needed a new batt ok just 1 yellow top up front no secondary batt for those amps on a stock ALT it was a impala so about 90 amp or so. how is he suppose to run 2 1000/1's and the 300/4 on that. So i got a call that his car was cutting off. Well NO BIG 3, No secondary batt, stock alt (and those cars have awful alts)

all problems were with the electrical. BB and CC all they tell u to do is by a cap or 2 or 3they offer what they sell they dont give u real advice. BB and CC and most shops dont even know what a BIG 3 is.

and im sure if not for the stickies 90% of the people on here wouldnt either, and with the stickies people still tear shit up and they have pictures to look at and a keyboard to use to ask questions

retarded generalization....ive worked for cc and currently work for bb and know what they are and would not do the above

Retarded generalization. When I worked at BB I actually did, and charged for both the big three and secondary batteries.

Just charged what I thought was appropriate in 1/4 hour custom labors.
