Will I regret getting my system installed at Best Buy?

lmao you guys are a joke seriously. Not everyone is die hard into this shit, some people just want the bump without the headaches.
Then theres people that know what to put where but dont know why or dont know a **** thing about troubleshooting/ anything more than the simple stuff.

And those people really piss me off when they say "installing is easy" just because they hooked up two amps.

They have never spent hours troubleshooting or trying to work with some of these premium sound systems and the dozens of other things that I left out that are total cluster-****s

What is the problem here exactly?

The installer according to the customer and the pictures appears to have done a good job, the only problem with the install was a problem with one of the product, which is beyond his control. He got the problem figured out and fixed in a timely manner.

I see nothing wrong with anything this guy did, being a paying customer or not you cannot just walk into a install bay and expect them to drop everything they are doing and look at you car, the car they are working on is a paying customer just like you.

The problem he had I think wasn't with the install, Hey shiz happens. Bad rca's just put a new set on. The problem is how he was treated.

As far as his fault for taking it there and he got what he deserved/asked for if he got ripped off, Which he didn't.

Taking a car to an installer makes a lot more sense than buying an expensive delicate piece of equipment from some one 3,000 miles away from some one on line. When you have never seen them before and never will see them.

When some one gets ripped off from the classified why doesn't every one say good,You got what you deserved? How could you be so stupid? That seems to make more sense.

Got it fixed tonight. When I got it back the iPods wouldn't connect. Went straight back and he fixed it on the spot: he had to take the radio out again because he'd left the iPod USB hanging out the back, unplugged...

Everything seems to be working correctly now. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm just glad I'm done dealing with BestBuy. I read the last several pages and honestly you guys have completely missed the point. I never argued that he was a poor installer, just that he took no care with my install and acted like an *******. Personally I would never use the "GeekSquad" for anything again. Thank **** we installed our own home cinema setup.

I wouldn't have even left, i would have played it on the spot making sure everything was 100%.

none the less, atleast its working for now.

keep an eye on everything and let us know what happens.

I cant believe you read this entire thread and cant understand the problem. You should be a manager for BB. Oh wait, are you?

Man worlddre, you dissappoint me.

You are a lot of the reason why BB has a bad reputation. God forbid the poor customer who has a problem if you ever mess anything up in their install, or someone dealing with one of your installers.

One thing you need to remember, which it sucks, but in this case in how you are acting is good; is the customer is always right and in this case he is.

I remember you saying something about when he went back, he should have checked his wiring himself. A big WTF to that! Kid is obviously not very skilled in the audio or car maintenance in general and don't even know where his battery was, and you expect him to check his wiring out? That ish is retarded!

Then he takes it back and has to put up with BS, which OP if I was you, I would for sure call customer care and turn this store in and give them the rundown on how you were treated.

Also Worldre............you act like everyone should read up on certain aspects about their system or just stuff in general. At one time, there wasn't an internet and a lot of people don't read just to read. So what should he have done then?

I like you, but you are very wrong in this debate/arguement........very wrong. So wrong, almost everyone has sided against you. That should tell you something right there.

I do my shit know, due to stupid ish like this a long time ago, so I, quote I did read up on caraudio and learn to do it myself, but not everyone is me or you, so be fair to the kid and try to understand. I believe you are just testy, because you work at best buy and once again there is another customer not happy. I am surprised with your attitude in this thread, that you haven't had your run in with a customer or two.

well all i can do is go buy my own and my peeps experiences with BB and CC, and to be honest they were bad. I just don't know how u offer something that the store dont sell but if you did good for you. All i am saying is me or anyone around me BB and CC has lost that business. There is 1 Electronic store near me that does a Good JOB ABC Wharehouse, but i still wont go.

you have got to be kidding me. How am I what is wrong with best buy for saying he should take some responsibility and check who is working on his car. That goes with anyone doing work for you it is common sense.

At what point did i say he was wrong for questioning the install when there was a problem. Please show where i conmtradicted what you just said.

Once again never said this either. The installer should have checked not the customer it is not the customers job to check his wiring

That was what 30 years ago. People need to get with the time and learn to ask educated questions before turning his car over to someone. This also applies to plenty of other things in life. You dont buy shit from someone on the forum without references do you? Same concept

I like you, but you are very wrong in this debate/arguement........very wrong. So wrong, almost everyone has sided against you. That should tell you something right there.

It tells me that everyone in here has misunderstood what i was trying to explain and or doesnt agree because i didnt bash best buy

I have not had run ins with any of my customers here because they are all well cared for and you can ask members of this forum that have been customers of mine when i was working at Tweeter that you completely misuinderstood me. At no point did i side with best buy at all. At no point did i side with the customer which is why everyone disagreed with me. Was the customer service shitty? Hell yeah! If i were him would i go back to that particular store? NO!! But i do not think he should write off best buy all together
......

from what im reading the RCA were bad out of the box correct??? which im sure all installers including myself have encounter a defective or bad product right out of a new box whether its a non working speaker, headunit or RCA's doesnt mean it wasnt installed correctly just means he didnt test the wires prior to but honestly how many installer bench test wires before there installed?????????????? Not many if any unless its used equipment because like anyone if its new you expect it to work correct but sh*t happens. true i understand ur frustration and yes he shouldnt have been talking to his friends while working on your car but it seem like you listen to way to many people on this forum who 'claim to be installers' and that kinda got you on a negative mindset about the whole situation from the jump like something was bound to happen so the littliest thing got turned into something huge. i understand the situation can be frustrating but it could have happen at any shop anywhere. Over all the install looks clean and from what ive seen on this forum it looks better then some of the DIY jobs ive seen on here so....
i used to be an installer. how many competent installers release a vehicle without having a listen to it and making sure everything works?

he said it was a situation where if you wiggle it the rca would work it is possible that while it was in the bay it was in a working position and that during the pulling the car out process it shifted to a no working position

speaker wire like 12-16gauge? its like 10 bucks for enough to do the job? naples is kinda far.. i have all the tools.. They charge a "Sub installation fee" putting a sub in a box..
if you want to save 220ish give or take gas im here.. let me know..if you make it 175 i will come to you.. coming to me would be easier though so i have all the tools..

I will walk you through everything im doing and take any input you have too.. let me know..
you totally cant beat that, 1. best buy sometimes fvcks up your car and doesnt tell you ( ive seen it ). and 2. thats way cheaper. and 3. they wont let you watch, so next time ull have to pay another 350 and u cant watch again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Are you serious? Do you think I'd have gone to BestBuy if I knew enough about this subject to assess the competence of an installer on sight?

you spent two days posting on here before the install plenty of time to ask us what questions to ask to determine is competence....And im sure you thought about this particular subject previously when you were picking out your equipment plenty of time to take a few mins and learn what an installer should know; that is unless you are incapable of learning anything which is the way you make it seem....either way in this case this matters not because the problem was not his fault and from the looks of things he did a decent job however he did handle the situation poorly.
