Will I Need An Extra Battery To Back Up My System??!

so if i get one of those batterys in my trunk.. can i get two?... will that power my 2500... im not a "huge worry" about dimming lights.. i jus dotn want to spend all this money for sub + amp n not give it what it deserves.

help.

Do everything we suggested first. Big 3, HO Alt, then if necessary get a new Battery if you continue to have voltage drops. And like I said, Yellow tops really aren't recommended for big systems because they are not capable to recharge as quickly as other batteries like kinetik or SVR's.

The 2500D is capable of drawing over 200 amps and if your stock altenator is only 105 amps the other 95 amps isnt just going to come out of thin air it has to come from somewhere. Its like having a 500hp car and only having a large enough fuel pump to pump 250hp into the engine, even though you have a "full tank of gas" with a yellow top.

Hey, just to share something with you guys that you may or may not already know. Sam's Club has some new spiral cell style technology batteries that come in atleast 10 bucks less than optimas. Since most systems don't drop down below 11.5V, most don't need Yellow tops. We mostly have used Red tops in the past with better peak score performance over the Yellow tops in street vehicles all the way up to the SM 3-4 van and even "the suburban" with 980lbs of batteries in the back. This battery which was located in the Tire section of Sam's Club is $99.00 for the 1000amp version, has two collapsable handles built into the top and both top posts and side mount terminals. What it does not have is a built in screw mounting devise of any sort. It does have the 1/4" compression mount style lip on both front and back though. This only means that you are forced to build a battery rack of sorts, which ofcoarse may offset the price difference between it and the Optima style batteries. We'll be doing an A/B comparison between this model and the Yellow and Red top Optimas and give some information in a new thread when completed.

when it comes down to it. "deep cycle" "marine" or "diesiel" batteries, it just wont cut it, car audio needs car audio batteries. like kinetic, SVR, or stinger, they're made for car audio, no other environment is going to have the types of electrical drains that we have in car audio.
