hey everyone, i just got in a hurry and bought a kicker zx2500/1 amp and was wondering if i will have trouble pushing this amp with my factory batt and alt. i have heard some ppl say ill be fine, and others say ill fry the amp in no time. im gettin kinda worried. what do you think?

prob a newb ? but what is the big 3, and also if its gonna be alot of trouble ill just sell it and buy the 1500/1
big 3

n i have a 160 amp alternator
with 160 amp alt.I think you will be fine. but like we said do the big three. install the amp and see what your voltage looks like and if you have dimming. if you do i'd suggest getting a nice battery or two.

i just called the audio shop and i dont know if they just want to make $ or what but he said to do the 2500 i would have to do the big 3 change my batt under the hood and put another one in the back. this sucks!

wtf.. if you have a 160 amp alternator... no you wont.. i think you would be fine with just doing the big 3

edit: unless you have other shit in your car

ok, thanks for the input guys, ill get the loca audio shop to do the big 3 to make sure its done right, and then try it.
Good luck finding one that will know what you're talking about. Not saying that they don't but some will try and get you to buy a cap. I would get a battery for the rear, do the big 3 and see where you are.

Edit: Or do what the shop said. If you bought a 2500, you should have already laid the groundwork. That's a serious amp.

thanks for all the help guys, i may just drop it for a 1500/1 and do the big 3 on it, with the three cvxs in a ported box @ 2 ohm. i think it will still be loud like that, and i wont need extra batt pwr. what ya think!

You could try to run it off a stock set-up.. i wouldn't reccomend it.... your voltage would probably drop to the point of killing the amp.

For that amp your gonna want an upgraded battery under the hood, a nice sized battery in the back, 1 or 2 runs of 0 gauge, and the big three. With that electrical an a 160 amp alt, youll not only push the amp but also avoid massive voltage drops when youre driving. Youd prolly wanna turn it down a bit at stop lights though.
