Why Your Electrical Is Important!!! 16Volts!!

all you need is a 3 post kinetik 16v up front, you run your 16 to the back and even though the battery charges 16+volts you can still run off the 12 volt post, awesome design.. eliminated stepdown modules and all that crap

So... the 'gears' were gone in your automatic? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I think you got taken bud.
haha not quite. reverse was out, and it has nothing to do with any electrical parts what so ever. that's why the ****** needed rebuilt. after it was rebuilt, the ****** was stuck in 3rd gear, and that is why the diagnosis was ran to find out what was wrong with the electrical. that's like going to the doctor with a broken leg, and then blaming them when you die of leukemia, because they didn't "test" for it.

Im a little confused.
So your whole car was seeing 16v during competitions, or just the stereo?.
his whole car. he would bring it back down to 14.5v for daily.

after a few years of that, im not suprised your in this predicament.

haha thats why they have things like flux caps and step down modules separate alts and so on i have 16V (actually charging at 19.3 ) 2 HO alts charging my powermaster 16V batts with a external voltage reg and from the 16V batts i have 3 powermaster step down modules that charge my powermaster 12V batt it charges @ 14.5 and MY CAR NEVER SEES MORE THAN 14.5 V that has worked for some time for me no problem

your fvck up quit your b!tchin deal with it learn and move on! yes it sucks it happened but i bet you dont make that mistake again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I ran into ****** problems with my Dodge Durango (1999 5.9 R/T)
About a year or so ago I switched my stock alt out with a 300 amp EA alternator with 12-20 volt regulator. Well I was just running it 14.5 volts daily and only during competitions and during demos for people I would turn it up.... I would not do it Daily!!!!

I have the Big 3 done and blah blah... well about 4 months ago my durango wouldnt shift into overdrive and wouldnt shift down from third once in it. So i figured my ****** was out.... well it finally shit the bed on me about a week ago. Off to the shop we go!!!

They pull the ****** and rebuild it for 2000 dollars... put it back in and still the SAME problems!!!! Well they checked it out and my TCM (transmission Control Module) is burnt up.... Among other things like solenoids and the ECM..... So now I have an electrical nightmare on my hands that is COSTING me money I dont have right now!!! I mean thousands of dollars!!!

I even installed a 2.5 volts step down unit a few months back to help me run higher voltage safely for daily.

TO LATE!!!

Now for those of you who do run a higher voltage daily... Be aware!!! The problems wont come at once... but will become very apparent overtime!!! And im looking at over 5 grand to fix everything on a vehicle worth 4000.

My dumbass NOOB mind a few years ago SCREWED me over now....

My Durango is now throwing numerous codes that are out of wack...

Sorry no cliffs..... If your on this site... your bored or you have a lot of time on your hands.... and you have time to read.

hey man

i feel for you,

think about it, at least something like " didnt go wrong" while u were driving, ie endangering your life. or the fault like cause ur whole car to burn down or something along that line.

take it as an expensive lesson.

i hope you find another shop that's able to fix ur problem at a cheaper price

cheers man

Are you his mechanic?

well good thing is you get to go buy a new vehicle and the lesson is learned.

I run my alts at 15.1 so when they get hot the do 14.9volts. I have not had any issues like that but i was told more than once never to charge a 12v battery higher then 15.1volts if you want it to last a long time.

Hasnt your alt went out a time or two? Sometime when they go bad they spike VERY high causing damage.

I trust the ****** shop doing this. Has nothing to do with them.... I just got sick of people asking me why a lot of my stuff is up for sale....

So I figured id just come out and tell people why being stupid when your young effects things when you get some brains //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

man....****** shops that do their job right would have found part of the problem before they rebuilt the *****.......at least would have pulled pan and filter and looked for clutch or band material, metal shavings or something. Never Trust a Mechanic Fully.......IMO If it would stick in gears due to the tcm maybe the sensor that controls what gear it is in was messing with reverse too.

just a thought. And i'm not bashing or anything but that does give you a little room for negotiation on price.

My baby's Momma was at a mechanic's last week... $700 to fix leaking fuel lines... I told her the bad line could be patched up one way or the other which they told her would be 'illegal'

$25 for some high pressure fuel line and a pressure fitting for her fuel filter later, the problem was fixed...

LOL @ rebuilding a ****** when it wasn't the problem... OP I'm not even sure why you'd spend that much on a truck with 200K ??? what will you do when the head gaskets let go next month.. LOL ??
