No, I'd rather they do what they say they're going to do, make it easy for people to claim their money, and then actually pay what they said they would.
There's a reason everything the gov't touches ends up mired in bureaucratic bullshit... no matter whose program it was.

And as for the matching, that's great. As I said, I didn't go onto the lots to check, and didn't see anyone advertising it, either. But I don't spend much time watching TV.
Easy to claim the money = easy to commit fraud.

You can have it fast or you can have it efficient, but not both.

Of course most dealerships didn't want to discount a vehicle any more than they had to.

But if the only discount you got was the $4500 you are a dealers wet dream.

The idea that it can't be done better is a staple of the gov't... but not of private industry.

I think the program has worked to get people out and spending, but as usual, the money is tied up, which is pretty well expected of the gov't. Yet another reason not to let them get involved any more in private industry than they already are...

I never claimed it couldnt be done better. I just pointed out that if it was easy to get the cash there would be more fraud.

further, as someguy pointed out, no one expected the program to be this successful. None of the infastructure in place was designed to handle the volume of deals that were pushed through.

Additionally, dealerships often have to wait for incentives from manufactures in the private industry.

You people just want to complain and would find a reason no matter what. You just cant give credit where credit is due and its sad.

Who is "you people"? I already said I didn't have a problem with this particular program... but it seems you want to lump everyone who doesn't toe your particular party line into a group that fits into your neat, tidy little box, so you can discount their opinions or input.

Nice diversion but you were clearly complaining about how long it takes to get funding.

You couldnt just say "wow this program was clearly a huge success." instead you had to find something to complain about... even if the complaint wasnt even valid because it was arguing against attempts to ensure there is as little fraud as possible.

I would never say the program was a huge success, since it's mired in gov't tieups and people are out millions waiting for gov't reimbursement... of course, you might call that a success, but some of us don't. Maybe it was a success for the gov't... stimulating purchasing with promises they are loathe to follow through on...

I also think it was done in the wrong way, but that's not the point... just because I won't sing the praises of a program I don't agree with, doesn't mean shit. You can **** the administration's dick all you like, no one's stopping you.

I'm stuck waiting for months for the rebate I am supposed to be getting for buying a house... doing my part to stimulate the economy. That program is tied up in typical gov't BS, too... but since it's not tied to the auto industry, it doesn't get news.

It was a huge success for people buying a new car. The OPTIONAL program was also a huge success for the dealerships who CHOSE to participate. They were never promised a specific date/time when they would get paid yet the CHOSE to participate because it was worth the wait to participate.

I have plenty of disagreements with the administration. Yet, just as with the W administration, i can admit the successes when they occur.

Sorry you're so closed minded you cannot do this.

isnt that a tax rebate?!

Did you expect to get it before you even filed your taxes?!

Filed my taxes a long time ago... your point?

PS: i know more about prescription drugs than you do.
Umm... you may think so... lots of people think so. Reading on teh intarwebz makes everyone superman, you know...

What I do have a problem with is the gov't getting an interest-free private loan from an industry that's already strapped for cash, one that's already been bailed out by the gov't and STILL filed bankruptcy... doesn't sound like good, sustainable economic growth to me... sounds more like a shell game, which Obama's been doing for years.

when did you buy your house?

What program do you expect a rebate from?

Are you saying you bought your house during the last tax year and are still waiting for your refund?

You couldn't have filed for this year as the year isnt over.

Maybe you should go read up on the program, since you obviously don't understand how it works.

interest free loan? lol

They all knew it might take some time when they CHOSE to participate in the deal.

You'd complain if they gave out the money quick with no verification because of fraud and you complain if they take the time to verify the deal actually qualifies.

There is nothing they could do to satisfy you.

you're just unreasonable.
