Most of the dealerships have not yet been paid for the cars they've collected for the cash for clunkers. This is something negative. Other than that, Obama can stick it in my clunker's rusty tail pipe and like it. I'm keeping mine.

it's their own fault for filling the paper work out wrong. Maybe if they werent retarded they would have gotten paid in a more timely manner.

you cant blame Obama because car dealers hire stupid people.

seems to me like it has been a runaway success.. and a bargain at only $3 billion... personally i like giving a laughably tiny fraction of the stimulus to actual people instead of giant corporations that acted irrespobcibly so that they can pay millions to their CEOs
People b!tching about the C4C program are going to b!tch about anything Obama does, no matter if it's good or not. He could find a way to cut taxes in half while doubling funding for education and the military and they'd find a reason to whine about it. It's like the liberals that cried about some of Bush's successful legislation just because they refuse to give credit to "the other team". I've got a list of stupid sh!t Obama's done a mile long (backtracking on DADT/DOMA, keeping up executive secrecy, neglecting various prosecutions...) but this one worked and worked well.

As a side note, morons who use the old "Obama/Osama" thing pretty instantly identify themselves as being not worth a thinking person's time.

It's not a matter of filling out the paperwork incorrectly. The companies that the government "hired" to go and collect the cars have not shown up at any dealerships. All the dealerships by me have the back lot full of "clunkers." I'm also one of the retards who works at a dealership. The paperwork is fairly simple. There's really nothing to mess up on it.

Ask yourself how much of that is because of the unprecedented success of the program. They thought the initial $1B would last to November, they went through treble it in three weeks. It's gonna be a little while before they sort through it all.

So your telling me ,That you dont see this as being .."people seeing it as chance to get some free shit " and stick it to man ///I guess we can talk about this in 6 months max ,and ill tell how much the repo bizz has picked up here .Just in my city ...LOLz...Hell i should start back repoing ,money will be **** good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I find the side note very funny ,I guess they took your clunker ...and you got the "free"ride ...Answer this question Do you really think ,that its a good idea to add more debt to a already sinking economy ?

But yet, the gov't finds a way to reject it and hold onto the money, keeping tied up billions of dollars in private funds fronted to them (the gov't) by private industry... all for a program supposed to stimulate the economy.

Hmmm.... gov't ****ing something up? Sounds hard to believe, to me.

Actually, I don't have much of a problem with C4C, even though I think Obama is generally on completely the wrong track overall. Of course, it wasn't his idea in the least, but he did get it included into his spending increases. Maybe it's helped, but it sure has made it tough on some of the auto dealers, who are already struggling. Now GM is having to front money to dealers, who fronted money to the gov't, who promised money to private consumers and fronted money to GM... does any of this shit make sense?

I wondered why so many of the applications for reimbursement were getting rejected, but I assumed it was that the gov't made the forms so convoluted and complicated that it was easy to mess them up. Apparently, it's not, they're just rejecting them for some other unknown reason???

Sucks. Wish I coulda afforded a new car under this program, but personally, I don't think it's any better than the deals the cash-strapped auto industry was offering a few months ago, when they were fire-selling everything they could offload, offering lots of incentives and rebates, etc. Are all of those things still in effect, along with C4C??? I haven't walked onto a car lot to check it out, but I'd seriously doubt it... my guess is that if you're getting the C4C deal, then that's pretty much all they're going to give you, because they still figure they can squeeze as much out of you as possible.

One more reason, I don't think I'll be buying brand new anytime in the foreseeable future. Used is always the way I'll go....

lol

Government officials say a big hitch has been that dealers are not following proper procedures by filing incomplete or inaccurate materials. For example, one of the main reasons cash for clunkers deals were rejected early on was because dealers failed to write "Junk Automobile, Cars.gov" in black marker on the title of the older cars that buyers were trading in.
A major reason for the close scrutiny of paperwork is fraud prevention. Citing the heavy volume of deals, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked the Transportation Department's inspector general Thursday to review the program.
if they were just handing out money you'd complain about the waste and when they take the time to verify you complain its too slow.

U MAD It B SUCH A HUGE SUCCESS

yes.

The bailout/stimulus seemed to work wonderfully.

You'd rather have them just hand out money to easily so you could complain about waste?

And yes you can still get dealer incentives with the c4c.

jeep/dodge/Chrysler matched the 4500 for $9K off.

No, I'd rather they do what they say they're going to do, make it easy for people to claim their money, and then actually pay what they said they would.

There's a reason everything the gov't touches ends up mired in bureaucratic bullshit... no matter whose program it was.

And as for the matching, that's great. As I said, I didn't go onto the lots to check, and didn't see anyone advertising it, either. But I don't spend much time watching TV.
