It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.
Is this improvement in the circumstances of the lower ranks of the people to be regarded as an advantage or as an inconveniency to the society? The answer seems at first sight abundantly plain. Servants, labourers, and workmen of different kinds, make up the far greater part of every great political society. But what improves the circumstances of the greater part can never be regarded as an inconveniency to the whole.

No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable. It is but equity, besides, that they who feed, clothe, and lodge the whole body of the people, should have such a share of the produce of their own labour as to be themselves tolerably well fed, clothed, and lodged.
OK so you've worked hard for 20 years at some job, you're good at what you do, you've gotten a pay raise each year, and say now you're making $260,000 a year. You'd be OK with the government taking a bigger portion of your money than that of others making less than you (for a wide variety of reasons, many of which are very irritating)?

Do your best to picture yourself in that scenario before answering; I highly doubt you'd be OK with paying a big chunk of your change to pay for a bunch of people who choose to drink, do drugs, sit around, party, etc., while you work.

summed it up nicely right here. There was even a lady who said keep your government hands off my medicare. lol, I guess she must've forgot medicare is a government run program. The president has said on numerous occasions you can keep your health care, its simply a second option to the private plans. Its there to imply competition among them and keep their prices reasonable. Its mostly people who are so missed informed.

I read the same thing and was laughing as to how ignorant some people are. They call Obama a Socialist, fascist, and Communist......which one is it?????

That is one of the many lies the insurance companies and their campaign have been spreading. Do some reading.
Yeah ur right, I'm sorry. The govment will have no sayso. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Remove welfare, unemployment insurance, and the minimum wage.
That also solves the some of the illegal immigration problem.
Exactly!! We have too d@mn many ridiculous reasons for anybody and everybody who is even somewhat uncomfortable in their own country to want to come here.

I think there is much mis-information.

When this first came around, it seemed tax-payer supported. However Obama's speach yesterday implied that people will have premiums and copays. Until the WH explains clearly wtf is going on, there will be much misinformation. The town meetings are helpful, but it seems like the messages is mixed, at least what I watched on CSPAN.

You show me one place in the proposed plan where it reads the gov't will have say so over what procedures you can and cannot have. You're making a generalized blanket statement backed up by NO facts what so ever.

You're really showing your age. Thanx for making yourself look less intelligent.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Wow, great answers guys. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
its like asking, "can you turn your head upside down and swim in the sky like it was an ocean?"

It is a question obviously only asked by someone completely ignorant of how things in the particular manner operate.

And the answer is too extensive, obvious, and tedious to write for us to tell you.

It does. Peter Orzag has said countless times the plan will focus on procedures that have the greatest heath outcomes.

Then tell me this....why is someone of your utmost intelligence wasting your time on a car audio forum?? Maybe it's because it makes you feel more intelligent being around us morons? Or is it because you're making up for having a small wee wee.??

Yes, and why not? It's for the patient's best interest. Not only that, if someone doesn't like what the gov't based coverage offers they can still use their own private insurance company.

You guys act like the gov't is going to be any worse about screwing people than the insurance companies (who have created this whole mess to begin with) would. Seems to me public option is the lesser of the two evils.

I didn't say there was no positive correlation. I said no positive correlation relevant to the discussion. Read the post.
It's easy to show a positive correlation between fat people and cheeseburgers but that correlation doesn't mean if you eat cheeseburgers you will be fat. It has fallacy stamped all over it, just like the op study and its implications.
There is a reason i said it the way i did and did not use the term causation.
It is clear that there is correlation between the 2 factors. However as I said, that correlation is IRRELEVANT to proving the CAUSE of the data's results.

Seriously? You are arguing with me because I called an embryonic chicken an egg?

I'm claiming you're stupid for deeming it irrelevant to the current conversation.

They never claimed causation which you ought to know is an unrealistic standard for this subject.

To dismiss the possibility as irrelevant without any further examination because this single study didn't prove causation is as foolhardy as believing it proves causation.

Confirmation bias VS not understanding causation...

I make no claims regarding the issue, just pointing out your mistake.
