maybe I'm a heartless bastard, or maybe i've just matured, but i came to realize i couldn't let dogs stand in the way of things i want to do in life... like world travel. Plus i sort of figure i would have to get rid of them when i move off to grad school... if i want to find a program in an urban area.. which i do.

its funny how time and circumstance can change your opinion.

affording to live in the city with dogs, without having to work much, if at all, was a lot easier when all my bills were paid by parents.

Now that i'm getting older, they don't like that idea near as much and expect me to pay a few of my own bills.

So its either continue to live in a shitty place like South Dakota, bored and tied down, or get rid of the dogs and go on with life.

Sad but true.

It is all based on what is most important to you.

My dog got sick, I mean real real sick with VKH (went blind, all sorts of problems) and I ended up spending over $5,000 in less than 3 months on her. I really didn't have the money. I just sucked it up and made it work.

I'd rather be poor, tied down and happy than well off, free and without her. Again, it is all based on what you feel is the most important.

Don't take this as anything more than me giving my side of how I feel. I don't think any less of you for what you did. You are following your dreams and that is cool. I think also there are people that look at dogs as an animal and who cares what happens to them (not implying you, just some people don't care) and then there are people like me that feel they are just as important as anyone else in your family.

ya i totally understand your position, in fact i held it for many years. I also dropped thousands when i thought the dane might have cancer. Had a tumor removed and checked out. Wasn't cancer, but it certainly wasn't cheap to find out.

I also would have never just dumped them off at the pound or anything, i know they are both going to good places they are familiar with and will be well treated.

Its just strange to have come to the realization, going on with my life means more than the dogs do.

PS: i probably wont ever have kids. I'm not the children type. Closest i've come is paying for an abortion. Now i'm way more careful too.

In my way to cancun I stopped to pee in the bushes, while I was pissing i got 5 bites from the same fukin moskito... They suk. And cancun was ful of moskitos too. Everytime I got in the car I had to kill about 4 moskitos
