One time I had to call and bitch to find out where my package was, they told me the driver is out to dinner with his wife so it wont be delivered until the next day. That was at 9pm; made me want to kill him and his wife.

i dont understand if the package has your address on it why they deliver it to your dads?

are the houses really close or on the same lot?

because its south dakota and people have this weird rural mentality you just have to deal with.

His house is a block away and when i first moved here it bothered me. I called UPS and complained several times to no avail. Now i just accept it as one of the idiosyncratic qualities to life in such a place.

Its sort of like going to the gas station and seeing the clerk working doing something.. like mopping the floor or stocking the shelves.. when i first arrived i actually expected them to stop and ring me up.. foolishly of course.. because thats just not how shit works here... and its a complete waste of time to try and make this place become like a regular place because it isn't. To live here you just have to accept it and move on.

There are some benefits though... i mean where else would the sheriff stop by to tell you have warrants and you should probably stop by in a few days with bail money to take care of it..

The phone and cable company here isnt a big national company.. its owned by a local family.

You can still charge things at the grocery store, gas station, hardware store, lumber yard...
