i figure its an all or nothing type deal.

It would probably be more awkward (for me at least) to just go for it rather than get caught trying to hide it.

Probably wouldn't be for the roommate.. just going for it would probably be way more awkward for them... but i don't care are about them really.

Not sure i could actually just go for it..

just saying.

People arrested for serious crimes in South Dakota in the future will have to provide DNA samples.
Existing state law already requires DNA samples from those convicted of felonies, violent crimes and *** offenses.

The new law goes one step further by mandating DNA from people at the time of their arrests, prior to conviction, acquittal or dismissal of charges.

Saliva swabs are commonly used to obtain DNA samples for analysis.

So does the public good that could possibly come from this worth the potential cost?

I personally think its really frightening.

it really bothers me.

I cant believe it they have the right to collect DNA and add it to the database before a conviction. I can understand after conviction, but before!?

what if the charges are dropped?

You're still in the system

Honestly I don't think its a bad idea (maybe its because my dads a forensic scientist, and is head of a company that would benefit from this) but anyways, DNA can provide so many things, its kind of just like getting finger printed when you're getting processed in jail. Just like some parents get their kids DNA incase their child ever gets kidnapped so that they can identify them if they are killed. Same for soldiers.
