It was rad when i was a little kid and i still find it rad to think about it historically and in the context of the escalation in the cold war under REgan. It is interesting to view it as foreign policy commentary and as representative of the threats facing America internationally.

Was a great political peice (allthough I dont think it was intended on being a snapshot of geopolitics at the time).

I think an equal update to this movie is currently "Jericho" on TV at the moment. Ive been watching that show religiously lately. Its got alot of political undercurrent theme's and if you listen closely every once in awhile, a sneer to "homeland" politics now.

Hey, Swayze is an acting genuis. I just regret that the stupid writer of Red Dawn could not work in the line, "Nobody puts baby in a corner." Otherwise, a perfect film.

You should check it out then. Jericho isnt about terrorism, because the "terrorism" already happened in the show (this isnt a spoiler, but basically the series starts out with 7-8 nukes going off all over the united states in major cities which completely destroy's the economy, political system, and society.) So what you're watching in the show is whats happening AFTER the supposed "terrorism" and what new goverments have formed after the incident.

Ive noticed in the show that they'll take issues that are actually happening right now in the world, and put a small spin on it and develop it into the story line. I guess I kinda like that because its applicable at the moment.
