So yesterday i went to the South Dakota's state capital. First off, there were no metal detectors or security guards at the entrances. I met the Governor, the chief justice of the supreme court, and many state senators and representatives without being searched for weapons. Just thought i would share that.
One of the bills that has received wide support in both houses is a bill that would make it illegal for colleges to ban guns on campus. The bill is very popular and when asked about it the Governor wholeheartedly endorsed the proposed legislation. I'm about 95% sure it will pass and become law.
We are already allowed to bring guns to campus, but we are supposed to leave them in one of the two guns safes on campus. This new law will allow us to bring weapons into the classroom without fear of punishment.
I feel this is a bad idea.
