You do realize that one would look at different evidence to prove that something exists than you would to prove that a war occurred?

This was in regards to the bible being true or fiction, not the existence of God.

Certain events in past history would prove that the bible is true, such as the parting of the Red Sea, the resurrection, the flood etc, just like certain events in history would prove that the Revolutionary War or other events in history occurred. We have no physical proof of these things in our modern era other than word of mouth (or written books) and illustrations (which are figments of ones imagination).

My point (whether you believe in God or not).....Just because you can't prove it happened by using one of the five senses doesn't mean that it never occurred.

a.) I must honestly say that I have very little faith in the ideals of modern organized religion. My relationship with God is a very personal "one-on-one" type of thing.

b.) It turns my stomach when imagining the atrocities committed by the Catholic Church during the middle ages, and leading into modern times in terms of heaviness and extravagance. Those late night broadcasts with big haired, makeup-caked women, rambling scripture from thrones adorned in gold leaf really get my goat.

a.) I commend you for that. It takes strength of mind for one to keep their beliefs on a personal level like that, imo.

b.) As it does mine. I won't go into detail regarding atrocities being committed today that boils my ice, but I'm sure many that know what I'm referring to feel sorry for the altar boys as well.
