I dont think that opening up shooting galleries would solve our nations drug problem at all. Your saying if they have a legal shooting gallery then people would be more informed about detox facilities and rehabilitation centers. Im sorry, but I believe most addicts already know this.

The success rate for addicts going into a rehabilitation center and staying clean for a long period of time without relapsing is 1 in 27. That's not because the rehabilitation center did not do its job thats because it's quite hard for the addict too quit. Some addicts have more in them to quit than others. Most of you in here do not pity the addict but I do. There are circumstances in every addicts case. Do you assume all these addicts chose to live life like this? I dont think so.

Society deems all addicts scum of the world but this is just not true. They are just like you and me accept they have gotten themselves in a bad predicament. I guess I am off topic but oh well.

There are other programs out there for people on opiates other than rehabilitation centers. They can try and do a methadone program but thats really long and drawn out and sometimes even worse than when they were on heroin. They can also go on a suboxone/subutex program and have higher chancers of success if used for atleast a year in a healthy non abusing way. If an addict really wants to quit really bad he will find the will and power to do it.

I do not believe a shooting gallery will solve this problem at all. Some of you may disagree with me but thats my personal opinion. This is a debate and some people have different opinions but this shouldn't turn into a assassination of character. Also, what is the war on drugs? The war on drugs in the us stopping mainly black people for crack cocaine and giving them minimum mandatory sentences for 6grams or more of crack. If you have powder cocaine though the min/man is 500 grams. The war on drugs doesnt start in the United States it starts in countries that mass produce the drug and then ship it off to our country and get our citizens addicted to it.

Last but not least. Sending addicts to prison in the united states would cost more money than sending them to rehabilitation centers. For one, I know in Ohio it costs us the taxpayers I believe $37,000.00 to cloth, feed, house etc. just one inmate and prisons are popping up more and more. In the long run this will only hurt our society. I believe some people deserve prison and if an addict cant get the picture than send him but for a first time offense he should be given a break and maybe even a second time. I know Im going to get a lot of backlash from you forum members about my post and thats ok. Thats all I got for now........

Haha... so much for having a rational discussion. lol
Is this what you call "showing your true colors"?

What a tool.... lol
faulkton and rational discussions dont really mix that well.....i dont even think its possible....

Yah, thats pretty messed up to say bro. Trying to have an adult conversation but attacking character and character or a child. You started the thread if you cant handle criticism or opinions then you shouldnt make a thread that will cause such a debate. Just my two cents....

They will do it whether you want them to or not, they are not selling the shit and having you come and buy it. They are not saying you should be an addict, but they know that if you want to be an addict you will be an addict so they are helping the addicts by them being able to be safe about there ways rather than going out and using dirty needles.

Just because they are addicts don't mean they should be left unfed... Its not cool being an addict, many of them would do anything if there were some genies with magical wands that touched them and they are cure of there addictions, but there is no such thing...

I agree with all of this accept the part to where you do not think it will help. How will it not help with them going in and using clean needles?

I highly agree on the not using methadone, hell its as bad as crack, the government just says they are "trying to help"

I do highly recommend suboxone, myself as well as a handful of friends, within days quit taking pain pills after years of eating over 10 a day at minimum. Sometimes getting in the 30's... I will not stay on the thread and argue my point though,

i really have no sympathy for addicts....you know heroin and cocaine will kill you....its proven.....yet you still think it might be cool to try.....i wished it killed them quicker...darwinism at its best...survival of the fittest....might be a little insensitive but its how i feel.

I'd be all for it if they'd just change the room into a giant incinerator and turn the heat up when everyone's in and shut the door.
Like I said earlier? Except lethal injection style?

Horrible idea.
I'd let it exist exactly as they suggest though, if they changed one thing...

They switch the substance in the needle, from heroin/cocaine... to a dose of lethal injection.

They're the scum of the earth, get rid of them. Natural selection at its finest. When these worthless people reproduce... they inevitably lead to more worthless people who are leeches on our country.

kthnx.

Hey Mountaineer. I am not disputing about a needle exchange or that but having a shooting gallery I just dont agree with. I devoloped an addiction to oxycontin consuming more than 560mgs a day for 4years after having 6 surgeries for meligmant(sorry if I didnt spell that right)stage 2 skin cancer. I never chose to become an addict but surgery after surgery they kept giving me more and I eventually got hooked which was my own fault.

It took me over four years to quit. I guarantee you that if I had a place to do oxycontin at all day long without no ramifications I would've done it and I would not have gotten sober. When I Finally decided that enough was enough I wanted to stop I got ahold of a sub doc and did a year and a half treatment of sub. I have been off sub for over 18months and off of oxy contin for over 32months now. So I know first hand about this kind of shyt.

I am not arguing over the using of needles. Hell, I feel that a needle exchange helps a lot. It helps stop the potential spread of diseases not all of them but it helps. I just dont feel that this society should have a place where the abuse of drugs is ok. If they have places where you can inject drugs then seriously whats next cvs selling teener bags of coke and bundles of heroin? Im just saying. You dont have to agree with me at all but this is how I feel about this issue.
