You are missing the point entirely.
You're making a large mistake here in assuming that I do not understand the concept... I understand perfectly what is being suggested.

I just disagree with it.

Making it easier for people to both break the law and destroy their own bodies does not make it easier for them to quit.

Who is more likely to find out about and use treatment options?
A homeless drug addict shooting up in someones garage or under a bridge, or someone shooting up in a safe room with nurses and treatment staff on site?
The programs are there... if people want to use them, they can. Any Emergency Room in the United States can get people the help they need. There is NO need for such a place.

And the ER has no legal reprisals, either.

uh that is just not true.

I have been with someone who was turned away from an ER while going through heroin withdraw.

They were turned away without even being given a phone number to a treatment program.

What that emergency room did was against federal law, then, and you should have filed a complaint against them.

Trdoc just doesn't understand the problem.
Yeah, that whole 7 years as a paramedic and 4 years of med school didn't teach me a thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I can see it now. "Hey man, I'm outa money. I'll **** yo dick fo yo herone." ut of course there not going to do it in the room, so they will go out back where they will share there needles and do it anyways. That is the biggest bullshit excuse I have ever heard. I work in a jail, should we give all of our inmates their drug of choice while there in there.

In a state where a positive drug test results in arrest and a possession charge you expect a drug user to do what exactly? Call the cops?

loL.

Yeah you really have deep insight into the rationale of a drug addict.

In that state, then those people need to go to jail. They broke the law. Sounds like you helped them.

We don't need more clinics, we need more prisons.

I can see you have excessive sympathy for people who choose to flaunt our laws and endanger society. They made a choice, they live with the consequences.

see you're letting your true nature slip through in anger.

You don't give a shit about treatment or harm reduction. You're more interested in punitive measures.

Good to know what your oath means to you.

In supporting the ER's decision to turn away addicts seeking treatment you have just as much support for flagrantly breaking the law.
