I just wanted to make the distinction between taking away an individual student's financial aid, and taking away a schools ability to give out financial aid at all.

I honestly didn't think the distinction was that nuanced.

I get ya now

Honestly, what is the point of emphasizing the distinction?

If federal financial aid ceased to exist, it obviously would be unavailable to students.

That is a conclusion drawn from what is presented in the article. Perhaps I'm just 2 ignant cuz I'm only in my first year at teh collegez, but what the hell was your point?

their not going to make anyone buy napster. just give the option. and either way this bill is a long way from becoming law.

On the Senate side, after universities raised a fuss, the contentious amendment was eventually diluted to a requirement that higher education institutions merely advise their students, in writing, of the legal consequences of "unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material" and what steps the school was taking to combat such activities.
whos to say this wont happen again.

go back and reread my posts and pay special attention to who i was talking to.

It's quite disturbing.
I can see them requiring schools to have some sort of policy regarding piracy, but the riaa/mpaa shouldn't be able to yank a schools ability to give students financial if they aren't satisfied.
yes, this crap is just getting retarded. And to think next year I'll be in college.... most likely with a bit of finacial aid... man.

btw, faulkten, i think people just love to hate you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif lol...seems like every time you post there is some person just wanting to start crap.

^they both stink.

Cmon Hillary. There is no emphasis on fiscal responsibility among children/teens but you want to put $5000 in their account. As soon as the kids hit 18 they'll take their money and go on a nice vacation or put a down on a car. The ghetto like will spend it on their first pound.

uh no. Maybe that is what pat robinsons endorsement will mean, but you cant say that with any certainty yet. Dobson (focus on the family) has already said he would run a third party if Rudy gets the nomination. That cannot be discounted.

Try reading this, it emphasizes they current splits within the evangelical movement.
Yeah... If Dobson makes a move like that... then a democrat is sure to get in office. So either they all back Rudy or it doesn't matter who they back.

Ok that made absolutely no sense.
LOL, Ok.

Ill put it in a way thats very simple to understand.

Scenario A: You work 50 hrs a week and bring in $600.

Scenario B: You work 15 hrs a week, and bring in $180 & welfare covers the gap.

Why would you want to work the extra 35hrs if its going to amount to the same amount of $ being brought in at the end of the week?

It has to do with inflation as well... and the expanding gap between rich and poor with a diminishing middle class. The dollar isn't what it used to be. I'd say the smarter person is the person that works the 15 with welfare... the problem is when you make just enough money to not qualify for welfare and you're still so broke that you can't afford to support your family. Add that to a need to survive and you have some people driven to crime-- not including the people that do crime to try and get rich.

until the government recognizes that people milk the shit out of the system, then thats that. Anyone using government support should be monitored. E.G Pharmacists getting visits from people with a heavy gold chain, a Benz and Medicaid. GIVE ME A BREAK. REPORT THIS SHIT. ALL OF IT.

:edit: with the least bit of pressure you have to expect a good amount to back off
