At least a publicly financed system would remove the politician from needing to **** up to those with money so the rest of us might (maybe) have a chance he'll listen to all of his constituents for a change.

trying to take private funding out of politics would be a complete failure. It would not work at all. Instead of keeping private money out of politics all it would do is make everyone work even harder to hide it and criminalize all politicians.

There is no way to keep money out of American politics, so we might as well just allow it and make it as clear as possible.
