is it not self explanitory? A person of both African and American decent. Africans were brought to america and eventually the African race that was brought here evolved into the African American race because those who are born here are American, but we still have African blood line Decent.

Honestly, I've always thought the same thing. Most "colored" people are technically just American...not african american...seeing as how they did not come from africa in their own lifetime.

With this being so, I've always thought of the term african american racist in it's own way. It segregates a whole group of people based on the color of their skin. I don't go around calling all white people european americans or people of asian descent asian americans.

They use the word colored to refer to all types of people who have African American decent whether the are full blooded African American or mixed with another race.
