I'm not even in the military, but I have several family members, and specifically a recently passed away grandfather who served for the marines. He woud have personally talked you down to the size of a molecule if you insulted the military or him for being in it.
I would have not cared about this post that much up until a year ago. I have a newfound respect after seeing how the military takes care of their own, even in death. They sent out 4 men and a 2 high ranking officers for my grandfather, and put on the most respectful and solemn display of comradeship I have ever seen.
Until you have seen or lived it, STFU. And DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT believe what the talking heads on TV say. Remember, they own the news, so it can be presented in any fashion they see fit (to make ratings).

I'm going to guess your argument will be "but that won't happen, people won't do that" but what about a recent natural disaster? Lousiana sound familiar? The government lost it's ability to protect and keep order, and there was mass looting and even snipers taking out God ****ed rescue workers?!? Ya...it won't happen my ***.
Ohh and about the 'children and abuses' argument. Yes, that is wrong, you have that. But think about it....doesn't that happen just about daily over there? Strapping dynamite to an 8 year old girl and having them walk up to soldiers? I see daily from friends who serve over there, that soldiers USED to hand out candy and gifts to children while being over there. They respected the parent's wishes if they did not want them handing gifts to them, but thanks to terrorists sending bombs on little kids while doing this, they do not do this anymore.
Be in their shoes for a minute. Imagine being scared of a little girl or boy, walking towards you. Imagine having to aim your rifle at a child and tell it to stop, because that could be your God ****ed life walking towards you! Imagine how that has to tear through every inch of being in a soldier as he has to do this, and in some cases, shoot. Imagin having to shoot a child to protect yourself and your fellow soldiers. How royally ****** up in the head you would be after that.

So take a few minutes out of your self righteous life and think about the reprecussions of your wishes and opinions. Really, just let it soak in. Instead of thinking about the now, regardless of your good intentions, think about a week, a month, a year from now if you had your way and people 'realized' what they were living or dying for in the military.
