Another thing people don't understand is how crappy the quality is on these Jap cars. Every company has very good cars, and very cheap cars, including GM (Saturn) Ford, and Chysler. The Camry was built as a cheap car for those who didn't want to pay alot for gas. For those of you who don't want to accept that fact, pull of your door panel and find a GM of the same year and do the same. Better yet, take apart your engine and look a the extremely high quality connecting rods and pistons they put in the engines. Keep in mind, Jap steel isn't as strong as american and is more prone to breaking. Run the balls off of your Camry and it'd be dead in 100K. Quality is the issue, not how many miles you can get out of you POS 4 banger.
My Cutlass would see 150K if I wanted it to. Undercoated from the factory and for a car thats sat for a long period of time, It's in good shape and hasn't costed me much. Other than the acid etched paint (was parked next to a pine tree) and a few bad items such as a motor mount, valve cover gaskets, and a muffler, I haven't had a problem. I've put almost 10K on a 22 year old car that has been sitting for 3 years. I'd have to say I'm impressed. As for your quote in bold, you probably don't know the proper way to care for and maintain your engine. Just because a camry can be driven longer before you have to do something to it doesn't mean its better....It just shows people are too lazy to take a few and maintain their cars.
