im not sure this GV will take off. i certainly would not use it
Why not?

Aside from the ability to not worry about how many minutes you use while on the low cost plan, it provides a number free from an address or a wireless carrier.

I'm on my 6th phone number in a year.. a GV number will last beyond new service providers and moves.

The device is intended for roadside use by law enforcement agencies and includes a disposable plastic cartridge and a handheld analyzer. The cartridge has two components: a sample collector for gathering saliva and a measurement chamber containing magnetic nanoparticles. The particles are coated with ligands that bind to one of five different drug groups: cocaine, heroin, cannabis, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.

Once the device's sample collector has absorbed enough saliva, it automatically changes color and can then be snapped into the measurement chamber, where the saliva and nanoparticles mix. An electromagnet speeds the nanoparticles to the sensor surface, different portions of which have been pretreated with one of the five target-drug molecules. If traces of any of the five drugs are present in the sample, the nanoparticles will bind to them. If the sample is drug free, the nanoparticles will bind to the drug-coated sensor surface instead.

We need to get one of these into EVERY police car in the nation and should be used at EVERY traffic stop. NOTHING is more important than getting these dopers off the streets and into prison.

Just think of the lives this thing will save by getting those people addicted to lethal drugs like marijuana and crack off the street before they can infect other people with their addiction.

so can this thing actually test if you're on drugs right now? or does it work like everything else and go back for as long as the drug is in your system?

edit: rest of the article didnt say shit, so im going to assume it will detect drugs in the system even when your not on them. ****ing lame. great invention, a super expensive piss test without the piss is what it is.

do they make you blow the dui tester every time you get pulled over???

then quit your bitching
No, we leave it to the DISCRETION of the officer whether or not to give the alcohol test... unless the person has been convicted of DUI before, then we install the device in their car which wont start if they've been drinking.

This issue is by far more damaging and dangerous than drunk driving and i feel we cant leave anything to chance or the officers discretion. Everyone should be tested, every stop.

You do make an EXCELLENT suggestion however, that we install these devices in the automobiles of known drug users whom have escaped incarceration by getting a liberal activist judge. They could probably figure out a way to have the device lock the doper in the car and call the police to come arrest them if they test positive.
