So since i am going to Korea for a year i've decided to sell my car so i dont have make the payments and insure it while i'm gone. I can always buy a new car when i return.

So yesterday i got new tires and I'm replacing the windshield next week so that its pretty much perfect.

Its an 06 Focus ZX3 SES, 53K, heated seats and side mirrors, 'audiophile stereo' (lol), steering wheel stereo controls... shit you usually dont see on cars in its price range.

It books from $8500 (lowest trade in value) to $11500 (retail)... I'd like to get like $10K, but might have to take less ;(

So i have a couple of question for people who have sold some cars before..

#1. Is it worth it to list on like cars.com or should i just stick with the local paper?

#2. I have a decent stereo in it.. just a premier deck, 12 disk changer, Sirius tuner, PG xenon x200.4 amp, SS rli-8", some PG ti Elites in kicks, 0 gauge, and a stinger power2 battery with all stinger install shit.. Should i take the stereo shit out and put the 'audiophile' option stereo back in? Or you think i would be better off just leaving the stereo shit in when i sell it? It would sort of be a ***** to take out the wiring so i could yank it all but that and sell it here.. or i could just leave it if it would entice someone to give me $10K..

What you all be thinkin'?

I would leave the stereo stuff in there...but give the old shit to the new owner. If they want the old stuff, offer to reinstall.

its a hard call for me.. cuz i know that i would want the stereo and pay a little more.. but I'm betting most buyers wouldn't..

Well how much does it cost to run on cars.com?

I personally like Autotrader.com as I have sold a couple cars on there before. Pay so much and the ad goes till it sells, which I am sure cars.com has as well.

I would keep the system in there. Might help sell the car to the younger crowd.

hmm cars.com is sort of spendy. Its like $20 for 14 days and $60 for 90 days (dont sell it get a refund, but it looks like a pain to actually get the refund)...

autotrader is another thought..

I just live in such a remote area that i wonder about the effectiveness of online... unless i'm willing to sell it REALLY cheap no one will want to come get it..

IIRC and this has been awhile, I paid 30 smacks for the ad to run till it was sold. One of the I sold off there and the other car I had up there and had a bunch of people interested, but they either lowballed or never show up to lookat it. Waited like 1month and traded it in.

2 months later I had a chick that wanted it for sure, lol! Figures, could have kept me out of negative equity, lol!

remove the aftermarket audio. unless you have proof it was installed by a professional most people will shy away. that and believe it or not it actually decreases the value of the car. unless of course you have some1 that wants it then just sell it seperately to them or sell it on here.

AGREED REMOVE aftermarket stereo stuff try craigslist its free and autotrader is a good bet

remove the audio bro they are low ballers if they are interested. and make sure u play the radio loud when they are driving so they dont hear engine noise , swap the odometer to zero and say u never realy drove it . ull make good money .
