ok so i have 2 12 inch mtx 9500's in the trunk of my 97 grand prix coupe and i have 2 rockford fosgate t1500 amps hooked up to them and they are up almost all the way so that there isnt any distortion comming from the subs and im hitting at about 120 decibles and i was wondering if anyone knows how i can get them to hit harder? they are in a slot ported box. would they hit harder in a seeled box or what should i do?

i have a alpine head unit, i have two different sets of four gauge wires and the rca is from the same kit that i bought(the rockford fosgate kit), and they dont offer a much bigger altinator for my car

What exactly does that mean?

disagree that they're not overpriced? i mean i know its not really why its not hitting hard but MTX is full of crap
who cares how much he spent, they are strong drivers, and them being MTX has absolutely nothing to do with why his system isnt "hitting hard"

but back on topic. it could be a number of things

you need to

1)set your amplifier gains right, first of all

2)make sure your subs are wired to a correct ohm load. Your amp may only be feeding them a few hundred watts maxx'd out if they arent wired correctly

3)make sure your box is worthy of being used. Check for air leaks. what is the boxes volume and tuning? or is it prefabricated garbage?

Are the subs being pushed hard? do they have a lot of movement? or are they just kinda bumping a little bit?

ok they are wired at 2 ohms each and i know that for sure...i had the place that i bought them from build the slot ported box for me and they are a little bigger than what the mtx web site recomended. and the gain is set right there isnt any distortion coming from the subs. the system as a whole sounds great. i just thought with how well the drivers are in the 9500s they should be hitting at more than 120 decibles. would maybe an epyc center and some caps make the bass stronger?
