Unfair taxes, states rights, and the feeling that the south was not represented well in the US government was the MAIN reasons for the war, but slavery also played a part.
I am from Kentucky about 30 minutes from the school that got all the press for having a rebel flag and mascot, Allen Central, that got all the press in the winter...

They/we fly the flag for pride........

I have SEVERAL black friends who wear rebel flag caps/shirts......

There was no income tax (tariffs were shared by all states), we already discussed the state's rights aspect, and lets not forget that most of the presidents prior to the Civil War were from what region - oh yes, the South. Most of the military officers, and of course a significant number of representatives and Senators in Congress were from the South. So, how exactly were they being mistreated?

If you search my posts, you would find my command of the English language is quite precise. Without the occasional typo, all of my posts are rather clear and coherent without consulting the urban dictionary.

One is very clear to a greater majority of Americans, thus more effective communication. Goodlooks is not as clear to the same majority. Why would you choose to use words that are less effective (albiet more effecient,as it is one character less)? We have IM at work (more like an intranet IM) and when people use abbreviations and internet lingo, I refuse to answer. Is it that hard to use proper grammar? to me the rebel flag is a loser's last grasp of identity. they lost, they know it, but are still proud of themselves anyways. that is the definition of LOSER. As a LOYAL American I find it stupid, hateful, and retarded. But most of the rebel flag owners/displayers are after that exact reaction as they stand on their porches shirtless and beer guts soaking up the rays...

I am not sure where in the South you lived, but would it be fair if I made such a baseless comment about those living on the West Coast? Believe it or not, not all people with America share your views on how America should work. As a southerner, I find your comments to be in very poor taste. Your use of blanket statements which imply hate against those that (supposedly) hate America seems rather contradictory.
