Why does my Ipod sound like garbage on my brand new Eclipse HU?

well test the wires on the amplifier input if they can be turned to RCA stereo... PLEASE turn off the hu before messing with RCA cables on the amplifier and put the ipod volume to 0 and slowly increase it see if it still distorts... if yes then i bet its the cable lol

My HU doesn't have an RCA input, its a Mini Jack Input. And like I said before the only possible things that could be wrong by logic are the HU or the mini jack wire.

there may be an adapter availabe to convert the cd changer into an aux input as alpine head units are?

and by mini jack are you talking about the standard headphone jack or the really small one (like for cellphone headsets)?

Standard Headphone Jack. I still have my Alpine CD port to RCA adapter, would that work on the Eclipse?

And one more thing, how do i even remove the headunit? Its locked in pretty good, and i don't have any key or anything that came with the box, with my Alpine where pins i would just move out, but i can't find anything on this.

Probably not, but you can try it.

Go to RadioShack and get a male to male standard stereo headphone wire. This means both sides will have a stereo plug - one goes onto the head unit, the other to your ipod.

If those are the only 2 things it could be, by logic, why did you post here asking why your ipod sounds bad? You seemed to have known the answer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Becuase at first i wasn't sure if it was the ipod, but like 2 posts later i stated that i tried a discman and had the same results, so that hereby rules out the ipod.

I got a new 5 dollar wire from radioshack, and it works fine now, guess it was the wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sweet.
/thread

Upon further inspection, i noticed that regardless of wire, the ipod will distort if you turn the volume up too high on the ipod itself, so there was actually nothing at all wrong wtih the original wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
